Now, Mintiens is back with yet another new Type 9 LE. This time, he collaborated with Mark Cho, co-founder of The Armoury, to develop the Type 9 Scattering Sun, which could be the most dressy Ressence watch to date.I was charmed by the introduction of the smaller Ressence Type 9 last year. It’s the first sub-40mm Ressence watch, which means it fits my 17cm wrist better than any other watch from the Belgian brand. However, I wasn’t too keen on the aqua-blue and gray dial options, so the more new variations, the better.The Armoury is an artisanal tailor founded by Mark Cho and Alan See. Cho is an avid watch collector, but at some point, he decided to auction off almost his entire collection to finance a new location for one of his stores. As we know, a quick look at the past unique watches made by F.P. Journe for the Only Watch charity auction reveal a common pattern…All are actually teased future models. And the latest one didn’t change the rule. Despite saying that his next big launched would be in 2027, the watch is now becoming a reality, as the brand introduces the Chronomètre Furtif, a new stately integrated sports watch that joins the lineSport Collection.What’s important here is that F.P. Journe finally releases a time-only (almost) watch in its lineSport Collection, which only comprised models with complications until now – Centigraph, Rattrapante or Automatic Reserve. The new watch comes now with a classic 3-hand display, making it the new offering of the brand to compete in the luxury sports watch category.The case and bezel are sandblasted, resulting a matte black look, while the caseback, bumper, bezel ring and crown are done in polished tantalum, bringing a dark grey contrast to the otherwise all-black watch. The Chronomètre Furtif is relatively thin at 9.50mm and falls right into the design codes of the lineSport models, with a semi-barrel-shaped case with integrated lugs.

You can get a Hamilton Khaki Field in myriad sizes, with quartz, automatic, and hand-wound calibers, as well as with many dial options.For my 17cm wrist, I’m a fan of the 38mm Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical. However, because of the more rounded lugs and modest 47.5mm lug-to-lug, the new 40mm case also wears well. I prefer the look of the watch on the green NATO strap with brown leather details.I’m usually not really in favor of power reserve indicators on the dial. However, on a hand-wound watch like the Khaki Field Mechanical, the complication adds to the functional character. It’s cool how it looks very similar to a fuel gauge in a car.
